Russian drone attacks Swedish TV crew in Zaporizhzhia region, Ukraine's MFA responds
On September 19, invading Russian forces attacked the car of the Swedish TV4 crew in the Zaporizhzhia region with a drone. Ukraine's Foreign Affairs Ministry has condemned Russia's actions and called it a war crime against journalists
This is reported by TV4.
The Russian troops attacked the Swedish media workers on the morning of Tuesday, September 19. During the Russian attack, reporter Johan Fredriksson and photographer Daniel Zdolsek were in the car.
They were reportedly not injured, as they had left the car moments before the explosion.
"This time we were lucky. A Russian attack drone crashed right into the back door of our car, fortunately, there was no one in the car," the journalist said.
At the same time, Ukrainian producer Oleksandr Pavlov and two Ukrainian policemen were injured as a result of the strike. The car and equipment of the crew were completely destroyed.
According to the channel, the foreign journalists planned to shoot a story about the Ukrainian counteroffensive. The trip to the Zaporizhzhia region was approved by the police. TV4's team has undergone several security training courses, and correspondent Johan Fredriksson has been covering events from hot spots for more than 30 years.
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson reacted to the incident, calling it "terrible."
"It emphasizes that war constantly affects people who are completely civilians and who are there for other reasons. I assume that there will be a very thorough investigation into what is behind this," he said.
In addition, the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Oleh Nikolenko, commented on the Russian attack on Swedish journalists. He said that Ukraine condemns Russia's actions.
"All had clear PRESS markings. This is another Russian war crime against journalists," he wrote
