Over 80 people affected after Russian strike on Kryvyi Rih

Serhiy Lysak, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, wrote about this on Telegram.

"Kryvyi Rih is in mourning. Eternal memory to the innocent victims of Russian missiles. There are already more than 80 victims of the enemy attack. Among them are 7 children," he wrote.

19 people remain in hospitals. All have moderately severe conditions.

What happened before Russians attacked Kryvyi Rih

In an evening address on July 31, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that, according to preliminary information from the Ukrainian military, two rockets targeted Kryvyi Rih from the temporarily occupied Crimea, from the Dzhankoy area. According to Zelenskyy, this proves that to protect the country, the Ukrainian army needs enough long-range weapons and a means of defeating terrorists, and it is necessary to increase the sanctions pressure on Russia.

According to Ukraine's Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, as of 11:20 a.m., two people were killed and 20 others injured in the strike on Kryvyi Rih. About five to seven people are trapped under the rubble and are being rescued.

Earlier, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine noted that on the morning of July 31, Russians launched a missile attack on a nine-story residential building with 4 entrances. The building was destroyed from the 4th to the 9th floors within one entrance and an apartment on the fourth floor with an area of about 70 square meters caught fire. As of 11:00, the fire was localized.

Rescuers pulled a child born in 2013 from the rubble. However, one person died and 15 others were injured.

At the scene, the State Emergency Service set up a tent to provide psychological assistance to people.

The attack on the city by two Russian missiles was also reported by Interior Minister Klymenko. He noted that the second Russian missile destroyed a section from the 4th to the 9th floors of a residential building. A fire broke out there. 

As of 10:00 a.m., one person was reported dead, and 10 residents sought medical assistance. Emergency workers are extinguishing the fire and dismantling the rubble, under which people may still be trapped.

Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets published a photo of the aftermath of a Russian missile hitting a high-rise building in Kryvyi Rih.

My condolences to all those who have lost their loved ones because of Russian terror," he wrote.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs also reported on the missile attack on Kryvyi Rih. They urged residents to take precautions and stay in shelters until the air raid alert was canceled.
