Russian army rear detachments on fire, generals afraid of crossing Dnipro: Kim on Mykolaiv region defense

The Russian army will not be able to seize Mykolaiv in the coming months: the city is well defended, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces' successful counterattacks prevent Russian forces from making significant advances in the region

This was stated by the head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration Vitaliy Kim in an interview with the Glavkom website.

According to the official, it is difficult for the Russians to think about an attack on the city now, because they are suffering from well-targeted fire from HIMARS systems and other Western weapons by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Kim believes that probably the top military leadership of the Russian Federation has a plan to seize Mykolaiv in the next six months.

"Perhaps they have a plan to seize Mykolaiv in six months, but in the near future it is simply unrealistic. First of all, the Russians will try to reach the administrative border of the Kherson region in order to record at least some kind of "victory". Because it is reasonable before taking the next steps, to complete at least something. And now, on the contrary, we are slowly reclaiming the Kherson region. How can the Russians advance at all when their warehouses and command posts are on fire, and the generals refuse to move across the Dnipro?" - the head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration said.

Despite the strong position of Ukrainian defenders in the region, Kim noted that the authorities are doing everything possible to help residents evacuate to safer regions. He added that there are currently five open routes that can be freely traveled if necessary.
