Ukrainian army destroys 900 Russian soldiers, 11 vehicles, 6 tanks - General Staff

This is stated in the report of the Ukrainian General Staff.

The total combat losses of the Russian Federation from February 24, 2022 to December 9, 2023 are estimated to be:

Frontline situations: 95 combat clashes took place over the last day, Russia keeps trying to encircle Avdiivka

According to the General Staff, in the area of the northern Ukrainian border with Belarus, the operational situation has not changed.

In the northeastern border area, the Russian army maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas, and increases the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.

In the area of responsibility of the Khortytsia operational-strategic group in the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 11 Russian attacks in the vicinity of Synkivka, northeast of Petropavlivka and Ivanivka in Kharkiv region.

In the Lyman direction, the defense forces repulsed a hostile attack near Spirne, Donetsk region.

In the Bakhmut direction, Ukraine's troops repelled 13 Russia's attacks in the areas of 4 settlements in the Donetsk region. Ukrainian defense forces continue assault operations south of Bakhmut in Donetsk region, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the Russian enemy, and consolidating their positions.

In the Avdiivka direction, in the area of responsibility of the Tavria operational-strategic group, Ukraine continues to hold back the Russian enemy, who keeps trying to surround Avdiivka. Ukraine's soldiers are steadily holding the line, inflicting significant losses on the Russian troops. Ukrainian defense forces successfully repelled 35 attacks in 5 areas in Donetsk region.

In the Marinka direction, the defense forces continue to hold back the enemy in the areas of 4 localities in the Donetsk region, where Ukraine's defenders repelled 24 attacks.

In the Shakhtarsk and Zaporizhzhia directions, the Defense Forces repulsed all attacks by the Russian enemy, who tried to regain their lost ground in the areas west of Verbove in Zaporizhzhia region.

At the same time, in the Melitopol direction, the Ukrainian army continues to inflict losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces, depleting the Russian enemy along the entire front line.

In the Kherson direction, the Defense Forces continue to hold their positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River, continue to conduct counter-battery combat, and inflict fire on Russia's rear.

Russia launched 59 MLRS attacks, Ukrainian Armed Forces hit 6 Russian military positions

In addition, Russia launched 28 missile and 27 air strikes on the positions of Ukraine's troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Private homes and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

4 settlements in the Kharkiv region; 3 in the Luhansk region; 5 in the Donetsk region were subjected to air strikes.

More than 100 settlements in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions came under artillery fire.

At the same time, missile units struck 6 Russian military positions and 1 electronic warfare station.

Also, the Ukrainian Air Defense Forces destroyed 14 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles.

• According to ISW, on December 8, Russian troops conducted offensive operations near Avdiivka and likely seized the city's sewage treatment plant.
