Russian army loses 460 soldiers, 6 tanks, 3 MLRS in one day of war in Ukraine - General Staff

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia has lost 257,470 soldiers. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launch offensives near Melitopol and Berdyansk

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff shared their regular report, as below.

The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to August 20, 2023, amounted to:

personnel - about 257,470 (+460 per day) 

tanks - 4,346 (+6) 

armored fighting vehicles - 8,435 (+11) 

artillery systems - 5,245 (+33)

MLRS - 717 (+3)

air defense systems - 489 (+3) 

aircraft - 315

helicopters - 316

vehicles and tank trucks - 7,680 (+15)

ships/boats - 18

UAV operational-tactical level - 4,304 (+22)

special equipment - 790 (+5)

cruise missiles - 1,406

General Staff report: Russian troops are trying to advance in the Donetsk region 

Thus, 32 combat clashes between Ukrainian and Russian troops took place on the frontline over the past day.

On the northern Ukrainian border with Belarus, the operational situation has not changed. 

On the northeastern border with Russia, Russian forces carried out air strikes near 2 settlements in the Sumy region. They also launched mortar and artillery attacks, targeting a total of over 20 settlements across Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions.

In the Kupyansk direction, Russian troops carried out air strikes near Kyslivka and Kotlyarivka, and shelled 4 more settlements across the Kharkiv region.

In the Lyman direction, Russian forces carried out air strikes near 5 settlements and shelled about 15 settlements in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions with artillery.

In the Bakhmut direction, Russian troops launched an unsuccessful offensive north of Bohdanivka, north and south of Klishchiivka, Donetsk region. They also carried out air strikes near 5 settlements and shelled over 10 more in the Donetsk region with artillery.

In the Avdiivka direction, Russian troops shelled 5 settlements with artillery. 

In the Marinka direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces hold back the Russian offensive near the town of Marinka. Russian troops launched air strikes near Krasnohorivka and shelled 7 settlements in the Donetsk region with artillery.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, Russian troops tried to regain lost position in the Urozhaine area.  They also carried out air strikes near Urozhaine and shelled 7 more settlements in the Donetsk region with artillery.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Russian forces carried out air strikes near 3 settlements.  Over 20 settlements came under Russian artillery fire.

In the Kherson direction, Russian forces shelled over 15 settlements.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Defense Forces conduct offensive operations in the Melitopol and Berdyansk directions, consolidating their positions, and conducting counter-battery operations. 

Ukrainian Defense Forces launch 9 air strikes on Russian manpower concentrations

Over the past day, the aviation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out 9 strikes on concentrations of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment, as well as one strike on an anti-aircraft missile system.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian missile and artillery units destroyed 6 Russian artillery pieces at firing positions, 3 command posts and 3 air defense facilities.

Russian troops launch 67 MLRS attacks at Ukraine in one day

Over the past day, Russian forces launched 5 missile, 61 air strikes, and 67 MLRS attacks at Ukrainian troops' positions and peaceful settlements.

Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties and injuries. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed.
