Ukraine’s Southern Defense Forces and the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, reported the information.

"Using the tactics of complex maneuvers, the barrage munitions changed course several times, once again following the state border line," the Southern Defense Forces wrote.

They noted that the border and port infrastructure of the Danube region was under attack. The Russian attack damaged a granary and set 9 trucks on fire.

"There are no casualties. All relevant services are working at the scene. Law enforcement agencies are recording another crime of the Russians. The functioning of the ferry crossing has been temporarily suspended," the head wrote.

At the same time, Russian drones tried to attack the Cherkasy region, writes Ihor Taburets, head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration.

"The enemy again targeted the region. However, our defenders gave a worthy rebuff.  According to preliminary information, 7 enemy Shaheds were destroyed in the sky over the Cherkasy region," the statement said.

It noted that there were no casualties and no significant infrastructure damage.

Later, Suspilne reported that the sounds of explosions were heard in the Cherkasy region.

There were reports of air defense operating in the Dnipropetrovsk region at 4:40 am.

Overall, Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed 25 Shahed attack UAVs, as reported by the Ukrainian Air Force.

Russian troops attacked Ukraine from Cape Chauda (occupied Crimea) with Shahed-type attack UAVs. In total, 33 drones were launched, heading in several groups towards the southern, eastern and central regions of Ukraine.

"Fighter aircraft, anti-aircraft missile troops, units of mobile fire groups and electronic warfare are involved in repelling the air attack," the statement said.

The Air Force, in cooperation with the air defense of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, destroyed 25 Shahed-131/136 within Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Cherkasy and Zhytomyr regions.

Earlier, the Southern Defense Forces reported that 11 drones were destroyed in Odesa and Mykolaiv regions.

  • On the night of October 5, Ukraine suffered a large-scale air attack: Russia had launched several groups of Shahed drones. Explosions were heard in Poltava and Kirovohrad regions. Ukraine’s air defense destroyed 24 drones out of 29.
