Russia will not be able to sustain another year of war economically – economist Kushniruk

Borys Kushniruk, Chairman of the Expert and Analytical Council of the Ukrainian Analytical Center, said this on Espreso TV.

"The situation is complicated. If the ruble depreciates, it will lead to inflation and a drop in people's incomes, but the state budget will receive additional revenues and will be able to finance the war. The funds for the war will not run out by summer. The war is an incredibly expensive "toy" and Russia will not be able to sustain it for at least one more year," he said.

Kushniruk said that we need to observe what will happen in terms of the accumulation of problems in Russia – budget revenues and expenditures.

"Recently, it was reported that the drop in oil and gas revenues in January-February amounted to 46%. In about a week, we will be able to see the situation with budget revenues. Then we will be able to say how big the deficit is and to what extent they can cover it," he concluded.
