Russia unable to gain high ground needed to target Kharkiv region — Ukraine’s Khartiia Brigade
Oleksiy Rozumnyi, officer with the planning department of Ukraine's Khartiia brigade, says Russian troops have stepped up their attempts to advance along the same routes in the Lyptsi direction
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"Russia is trying to break through the front line in small groups. But all these attempts fail, and they keep taking losses. This month alone, they’ve lost over 200 fighters — killed and wounded. These are confirmed figures. So, yes, the situation is tense, but under control," Rozumnyi said.
According to him, the brigade is holding the line in the Lyptsi direction — fighting has been ongoing there for nearly a year. In that time, two Russian regiments have lost combat effectiveness while trying to breach the defenses. Russian forces still haven’t reached the key heights that would allow them to shell the city, move artillery closer, and cause far greater harm to civilians.
"From time to time, we see new enemy units arrive under command of higher formations. Lately, we’ve seen renewed efforts to push forward along the same routes. Sometimes they try something different — like sending assault teams on motorcycles. So far, there’s been no mass use of this tactic. But it's clear they’re considering it," Rozumnyi added.
- On April 28 alone, there were 178 combat clashes along the Russian-Ukrainian frontline. Ukrainian defense forces are holding positions in 12 directions, with the highest number of attacks reported in the Pokrovsk sector.
- Major Maksym Zhorin, Deputy Commander of Ukraine's 3rd Assault Brigade, said Russia is focusing its forces on specific parts of the front.
