Possible Russian key targets for using ATACMS by Ukraine: military expert comments

Serhiy Zgurets, director of Defense Express, highlighted that the primary objectives for employing ATACMS missiles with a 300 km range are enemy command posts and ammunition storage sites

He made these remarks during an interview on Espreso TV.

"Previously, we had ATACMS missiles with a range of 160 km. Now, we're anticipating an extended-range version, the M48 and M50, which feature a high-explosive warhead and a range of 300 km. This expands the strike capability of ATACMS to include a significant number of enemy airfields and facilities. The exact number to be provided to the Armed Forces is yet to be determined," Zgurets explained.

Zgurets also noted that Ukraine had previously received 20 ATACMS missiles, which were more symbolic than militarily significant.

"Even with this limited quantity, we were able to strike at the time. Now, we anticipate broader usage, primarily targeting command posts and ammunition storage sites. These are the priority targets for the 300 km range ATACMS. We'll observe their impact and how the Ukrainian forces utilize this potential," Zgurets emphasized.
