Zelenskyy slams U.S. Embassy for avoiding 'Russian missile' label after strike on Kryvyi Rih
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is deeply disappointed by the U.S. Embassy’s response to the Russian ballistic missile strike on Kryvyi Rih, which killed 19 civilians, including children, and left dozens injured
He wrote this on Telegram.
"Unfortunately, the reaction from the U.S. Embassy is surprising: such a strong country, such a strong people – and such a weak response. They even fear to say the word 'Russian' when talking about the missile that killed children," Zelenskyy wrote.
He emphasized that the war must end, but to do so, it is necessary not to fear naming things as they are, putting pressure on Russia as the one who continues the war, ignoring all proposals from the world for its end, and choosing to kill children instead of ceasing fire.
The President stressed the need for additional sanctions against those who cannot exist without ballistic missile strikes on neighboring nations. He added that everything possible should be done to save lives.
"We have talked, in particular, with the American side about additional air defense systems to protect against such missile strikes. We are counting on our agreements with the President of the United States, who promised to help with finding additional Patriots. And we are counting on the fact that the power of the world will still overcome this evil – this war, this Russian aggression," Zelenskyy concluded.
U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink also reacted to the strike but did not specify who carried out the attack.
"Horrified that tonight a ballistic missile struck near a playground and restaurant in Kryvyi Rih. More than 50 people injured and 16 killed, including 6 children. This is why the war must end." she wrote.
- On April 4, the Russian army carried out a missile strike on Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region, resulting in 19 civilian deaths, including 9 children, and dozens of injuries.
