
Zelenskyy arrives at EU leaders’ summit in Brussels
On March 6, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived at the extraordinary summit of European leaders in Brussels
This was reported by the President’s Office via live broadcast from the event.
Around 1:00 PM, European leaders began arriving at the hall where the summit would take place.
Later, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, together with European Council President Charles Michel and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, delivered a joint speech.
"We have been with you from the first day, we will continue standing with you now, and we will continue in the future in peace negotiations when you decide it’s time to sit at the table," said Michel.
Von der Leyen, in turn, stated that it is now crucial for European countries to stand together: "This is a historic moment for Europe."
She also announced that she would reveal a plan for rearming Europe during the summit.
"This €150 billion will provide fiscal space to invest in Ukraine’s defense industry or in military capabilities that will directly be sent to Ukraine," emphasized the official.
Meanwhile, Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked European leaders for their support of Ukraine and for inviting him to the summit.
Zelenskyy’s program in Brussels
Spokesperson Serhii Nikiforov, as reported by European Pravda, stated that Zelenskyy's program in Brussels would start with a meeting with Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo. They will also make statements to the media.
Around 12:00 PM, President Zelenskyy is expected to arrive at the building where European Council meetings are held and meet with European Council President Charles Michel and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
Additionally, the Ukrainian president has planned meetings with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and an audience with King Philippe of Belgium.
"Following that, the extraordinary EU leaders’ meeting will begin, in which Zelenskyy will also participate," the statement reads.
