Zelenskyy reported this on Telegram.

According to Zelenskyy, he received a briefing from the Ukrainian delegation following negotiations in the UAE with the American and Russian sides.

"This was the first trilateral dialogue format in a long time aimed at ending the war. The meetings discussed a range of important issues, primarily military ones, that are necessary to end the war. We also talked about complex political issues that remain unresolved. We analyzed the key positions of the parties," the head of state wrote.

He added that a new trilateral meeting is expected this week.

"I have defined the framework for further diplomatic work. We are preparing for new trilateral meetings this week," Zelenskyy concluded.

In his evening address, the president clarified that a new meeting has been tentatively agreed for February 1.

"We tentatively discussed the teams meeting again on Sunday. It would be good if we could expedite this meeting. Ukraine will be maximally prepared on all matters that need to be discussed and agreed upon," Zelenskyy said.

He assured that Ukraine always has been and will be on the side of peace, and that the war continues solely because of Russia.

"We need real results from diplomacy. So there is no impression that the Russians are using the negotiation process with a very cynical, harsh goal – to postpone new pressure measures on Russia that could work. And pressure is needed. It is precisely pressure and its consequences – the result of sanctions, the result of blocking Russian operations – all of this works toward stopping the war. Partners must not forget this," the president emphasized.

Ukraine was represented at the negotiations in Abu Dhabi by National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, Head of the President's Office Kyrylo Budanov, his First Deputy Serhii Kyslytsia, Servant of the People faction leader David Arakhamia, Chief of the General Staff Andriii Hnatov, President's Office advisor Oleksandr Bevz, Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate Oleh Ivashchenko, Deputy Chief of Military Intelligence Vadym Skibytskyi, First Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Yevhenii Ostrianskyi, and First Deputy Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Oleksandr Poklad.

  • The trilateral discussions in the UAE took place on January 23 and 24, 2026.
