Why Zelenskyy should agree to interview with Carlson: political scientist explains

Former Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson interviewed Putin and asked for a conversation with Zelenskyy. Political scientist Hennadiy Dubov believes that the Ukrainian president should accept Carlson's call

He said this on Espreso TV.

In his opinion, if Zelenskyy doesn’t agree to talk to Carlson, Western partners may question their assistance to Ukraine.

"Volodymyr Zelenskyy needs to prepare himself and refute Putin's theses. If we don't, only one side will be heard. There may be doubts that Ukraine is guarding global interests. Without a response, the necessary assistance to Ukraine to win this war may be questioned, including within Western countries. There are risks, Tucker Carlson is not loyal to Ukraine. But, nevertheless, we have the opportunity to try to compete in this "duel" between the two commanders-in-chief. Given that international law and the truth are on our side, the chances of "winning" are high," Dubov said.

In the interview with Carlson, Putin will say nothing new, he has no arguments, the political analyst believes.

"Putin has been repeating the same thing for the last 15 years. There is no big secret here, one way or another, the leader of the aggressor state is consistent in his theses. But Tucker Carlson is a very well-known person in the world, despite the fact that his reputation is ambiguous. Therefore, the interview with Putin will be watched by hundreds of millions of people, and it will be distributed by all the world's media. I don't think it will be a turning point, the world will completely turn away from Ukraine, love Russia, lift sanctions, or rallies in support of Russia will spread across civilized countries. But on the other hand, this is a really serious media blow. Putin will get a platform that will be watched with interest in the US and the EU, not to mention China and other countries in the Global South," he added.
