What can Trump promise Putin to force him to stop Ukraine war?

Political analyst Serhii Taran says that Trump's proposals to Putin will be based on three key points to end the war in Ukraine

He said this on the Espreso TV channel.

"There is not much the West can offer Putin, but there are some things Trump will be willing to offer to force him to a strategic pause in the war. First, it has already been suggested that Ukraine should delay its accession to NATO for the time being. For how long and under what conditions is another question, but such a proposal will come.

The second thing that could theoretically be offered to Putin is a gradual lifting of sanctions. This issue is very painful for Russia, especially in the technology sector. By the way, these sanctions will be the last to be lifted.

The third thing they may promise Putin is a partial return of Russia to the countries with which they will meet from time to time. I believe that proposals to Putin will be based on these three things," Taran suggested.

According to the political scientist, Putin will never be trusted again, but he will at least be able to talk to Trump for a while, because he has long dreamed of talking to the U.S. president about world destinies.

The political scientist added that if the proposals are not accepted, it is worth remembering what Trump said about the Russian-Ukrainian war.

"And he said that his first step would be to try to bring the parties to the negotiating table to reach a peace agreement. But if this fails, he will provide Ukraine with even more weapons than Biden to force Russia to negotiate," Taran emphasized.

  • On December 4, a Ukrainian delegation headed by the head of the Ukrainian President’s Office, Andriy Yermak, met with high-ranking representatives of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.
