This is stated in a report by the UK Defene Ministry.
It is noted that in the central part of the canal area, Russian troops are likely to have made limited progress west of the canal in the eastern part of Chasiv Yar.
At the same time, UK intelligence adds that fierce fighting continues in the central and northern parts of the canal area. According to them, the invading Russian forces have not been able to gain a foothold in these areas.
"From mid-July 2024 until recently, Russian forces had been unable to cross the canal due toextensive defensive measures taken by the Ukrainian Armed Forces," the ministry said.
- Recently, on October 22, Druzhkivka City Council deputy Mykola Dovbnya said that the Russian army had broken through near Chasiv Yar and was 7-8 kilometres away from Kostiantynivka.
