Ukraine will receive what it needs, assures Lloyd Austin
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin emphasizes that Ukraine's partners and allies will continue to provide assistance and make efforts to bring Putin and his henchmen to justice for their crimes
He said this during a briefing following a meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense.
"I am chairing the meetings of this Contact Group for the 23rd time and I would like to emphasise that Putin is now testing those who remain true to their word, he is acting radically, so this is all very dangerous. We must be clear. Putin started this war, invaded the territory of his peaceful neighbour. He is trying to deny democracy to more than 43 million Ukrainians. His imperial ambitions have frightened countries around the world. Ukraine does matter to the United States and the world. If Putin puts his boot down on Ukraine, the shadow of that boot will be on our countries. If he succeeds in what he has planned in Ukraine, he will only be inspired to continue, and the world will move to an ever-increasing level of danger," the US Secretary of Defense said.
According to him, the world is now on a trajectory to ensure security for decades, so partners will continue to help Ukraine preserve its sovereignty and the security of every ally.
"We will try to do everything we can to bring Putin and his henchmen to justice for all the atrocities they have committed. We will help Ukraine to close the sky. We will move heaven and earth to make sure that Ukraine gets what it needs," Lloyd Austin concluded.
- In the framework of the 23rd meeting of the Contact Group on Defence of Ukraine in the Ramstein format, on Thursday, June 13, Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov met with US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin.
