‘Kyiv, Jerusalem, Washington should join forces": diplomat on weakening Putin's position
Ukrainian politician and diplomat Roman Bezsmertnyi noted that there should be an understanding among the leaders of the democratic West that the war in the Middle East and the Russian-Ukrainian war are components of one war
He expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.
‘Sometimes it happens that a deadlock in one part of the world is resolved by solving a problem in a completely different part of the world. The overthrow of the Assad regime in Syria provided a very nice platform. The Russians' escape from Tartus, from Syria, created a good platform for Washington, Brussels, Kyiv, Jerusalem to work together to finish off the remnants of Hamas and Hezbollah, to finish off the Houthis, to deal a serious blow to Iran. That is, simply to crush what exists today as the ‘axis of evil’, thus chopping off the three legs of the chair on which the Moscow Fuhrer sits,’ Roman Bezsmertnyi noted.
According to him, this, in turn, would put Putin in a position of a supplicant to negotiate and sign an agreement.
‘In this situation, which has now developed for the current Biden administration and the next Trump administration, an initiative to unite forces in the Kyiv-Jerusalem-Washington circle is needed. Preferably, it should be Brussels and NATO, but if not, Paris and London will suffice. If such processes do not take place, it means that the answer whether the US will be in NATO or not is irrelevant. In fact, the current situation provides an answer to the question of with whom Ukraine should continue to cooperate closely in terms of assistance and in defeating ruscism. Because there will be no other outcome in this situation,’ the diplomat commented.
The politician added that Donald Trump and all those who ‘dance’ around the idea of peace, freezing, and a demilitarized zone are those who will eventually end up doing what Slovak Prime Minister Fico said the other day — sooner or later they will remember the Munich Agreement.
‘From the point of view of the current situation, the conceptual mistake is the lack of leadership in continuing the defeat of Russia in Syria, the lack of close cooperation in this circle, and the lack of understanding that the war in the Middle East and the Russian-Ukrainian war are components of one war,’ Bezsmertnyi concluded.
- On December 13, NBC reported that Trump's national security team was in talks with the administration of current U.S. leader Joe Biden and Ukrainian officials to ‘find a way’ to end the war.
- NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte warned against publicly discussing a possible peace deal between Kyiv and Moscow in order not to make Russian leader Vladimir Putin more informed.
