War reaches new phase, Ukraine must prepare for all scenarios – Defense Express
Defense Express military expert Ivan Kyrychevskyi noted that it is currently impossible to assess the success of Ukraine's operation in Russia’s Kursk region
He shared his view on Espreso TV.
“Russian forces started moving some units from the east before the fighting in the Kursk region began. It's hard to quickly withdraw brigades from Vovchansk, Pokrovsk, and Chasiv Yar and move them to the Kursk region in two days due to the significant logistical work involved.
Ukraine's decision to start the operation in Kursk might have been based on the assumption that Russia would pull some units from the east. The goal might also have been to disrupt the Russian offensive on the Sumy region. Without knowing the specific plans that formed the basis for the operation in the Kursk region, we cannot assess its success,” Kyrychevskyi stated.
According to him, Ukraine is entering a stage of war where we need to prepare for all possible scenarios.
“On the one hand, there is negative news that Russian forces are not stopping their movement in the Pokrovsk direction. On the other hand, General Moskaliov has headed the Ukrainian military commandant's office in the Kursk region. At the moment, Russian forces are trying to seize more territory in the east, and we are trying to advance in the Kursk region to cut off Russian logistical communications that support their troops in Donbas. This means we will have to continue conducting ongoing hostilities. If anyone thinks this is a simple territorial exchange - where we move out from the Kursk region while the Russians move out from the Pokrovsk direction - they should understand that this is not a concern for our military planners," Kyrychevskyi emphasized.
- General of the Ukrainian Army, and former head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, Mykola Malomuzh, stated that in the eastern Ukraine's regions, Russian forces are carrying out Putin's directive to capture new territories.
