
Von der Leyen says U.S. remains EU's ally despite differences

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasized that the United States has been the European Union's closest ally for over 80 years. She acknowledged that, while there are differences in views, the common interests between the U.S. and Europe always outweigh their disagreements, and together, the two have always been stronger in the face of adversity.
The President of the European Commission noted that differences must be overcome by finding common solutions. She also highlighted the importance of supporting Ukraine, stating that Europe is committed to ensuring its ability to continue fighting for a just and lasting peace.
She emphasized that, "Therefore, we are allies (with the United States), but this means that all allies must fulfill their duties."
