Putin announces start of mass production for Oreshnik missile system
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin says that the Oreshnik missile system has proven itself well in combat conditions in Ukraine
He said this on June 23, according to TASS.
"Serial production of the newest medium-range missile system Oreshnik, which has proven itself very well in combat conditions, is being launched," Putin announced.
On November 21, 2024, Putin claimed that, in response to the use of Western long-range weapons against Russia, the Russian forces used the latest domestically produced medium-range ballistic missiles Oreshnik in a non-nuclear configuration for the first time. The Kremlin leader stated that the target was a Ukrainian defense industry facility—the Pivdenmash plant.
Later, Putin said that decision-making centers in Kyiv could become targets for the new Oreshnik missile, which Russia used to attack Dnipro.
And in March 2025, Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko claimed that Belarus is already manufacturing launchers for the Oreshnik ballistic missiles.
