USAID donates mini-CHP to Ukraine

USAID has delivered 57 cogeneration units for communities to Ukraine as part of the Energy Security Project. Ukraine’s Ministry of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure reported the information.

"To ensure stable heat and power supply in winter, USAID is purchasing 91 cogeneration units for 32 cities of Ukraine and 2 universities. As of today, 57 such units with a capacity of 50 kV to 1500 kV have already been delivered," the Ministry of Development says. "Thanks to this, heat supply companies will be able to generate an additional 56.5 MW of electricity for their own needs and provide heat to about one million citizens and 960 social facilities."

This primarily includes schools and hospitals, as well as other local critical infrastructure, including water utilities.

AFU may have already used latest GLSDB bomb against Russian troops

Valeriy Ryabykh, a military expert and development director at Defense Express, told Espreso TV that long-range GLSDBs for HIMARS can significantly expand the capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

"Most likely, GLSDBs are already furthering our victory. The prediction made by Politico at the end of January that Ukraine was to receive GLSDBs in early February may have been confirmed. But this was not officially announced by our military. Such announcements are made by the occupiers themselves, showing photos and videos where you can recognize the components of the GLSDB shell," noted Ryabykh.

According to the military expert, the GLSDB shell was manufactured specifically for Ukraine.

"Ukraine could have already used this bomb for the first time, we can only guess. But the fact that there are photos showing that it was a GLSDB suggests that GLSDBs are already in Ukraine. They can significantly expand the capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to hit important enemy targets located at a considerable distance from the front line. GLSDB is a high-precision bomb," added Ryabykh.

Stoltenberg announces one million drones for Ukraine in 2024

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in Brussels that Western allies plan to deliver one million drones to Ukraine in 2024, Liga.net reports.

"A group of allies is going to join forces and give Ukraine a million drones, 20 NATO allies have also agreed to create a coalition for demining. All of this will help save the lives of Ukrainians," he said.

Oil exports plummet after drone attacks on Russian refineries

In January, Russia lost 1 million tons of oil product exports after Ukraine's strikes on its largest refineries, amounting to almost 10% of the total, the Moscow Times reports.

Ukrainian drone attacks, which have targeted Russia's oil and gas infrastructure at least nine times since the beginning of the year, have hit the exports of major oil companies.

In January, oil companies sold 10.8 million tons of oil products abroad through seaports, Reuters reports, citing industry sources and its own calculations. In annual terms, exports shrank by 1 million tons, or 9%, after large refineries were completely or partially shut down due to Ukrainian attacks.
