U.S. acting as Russia’s advocate, says political expert
Volodymyr Tsybulko, a political expert, noted that Russia may have offered U.S. Special Representative Witkoff participation in a large oil project, which transformed Trump’s role from a mediator to Putin’s advocate
He expressed this opinion on the Espreso broadcast.
“Regarding the U.S. stance on Russia and its aggression against Ukraine, there is still a smoke screen because no one reveals their real intentions. The United States insists that they are acting as mediators. Ukraine often perceives this mediator as being too pro-Russian.
In fact, in the negotiations that are taking place, the U.S. is carrying the image of Russia’s advocate, which we very much dislike. It’s even more immoral when the U.S. blocks the G7 statement on the strike in Sumy. It reaches the point where Trump’s entourage trusts Putin more than normal people. Then the question arises: is Trump even normal? Because instead of mediating, he essentially turned into Putin’s advocate,” the political expert emphasized.
According to him, this position of Trump’s leads to the question: What kind of sweet deal could Putin have offered Witkoff and Trump? Because now, supposedly, the talks are about participation in a large oil project called Vostok.
“If this is the case, then we are falling into a very shameful story, where Ukrainians have become pawns for those we trusted the most. Let me remind you that Speaker of the House Mike Johnson was constantly criticizing Ukrainians for their un-Christian behavior. How Christian is that behavior when the U.S. is afraid to mention the victims of Sumy?” noted Vladimir Tsybulko.
- On April 11, U.S. Special Representative Steve Witkoff has been meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg for more than four hours. Meanwhile, the White House called it “a step towards a ceasefire” in Ukraine.
