Ukrainian veteran warns of growing threat to proactive citizens after activist’s murder in Odesa
Oleh Symoroz, a veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, believes that Russia is targeting proactive people in Ukrainian society who oppose Russian propaganda
He shared his opinions on Espreso TV.
"The murder of Demian Hanul raises deeper issues. These are serious challenges we face in our society today. There is a great threat to the proactive part of Ukraine's population, especially among the military and veterans. These are the people who stand against Russia's information campaign. They are respected figures in society and leaders of public opinion. They work where the state is lacking. These individuals explain things to the people and try to counter Russian propaganda. Undoubtedly, for the Russians, this group of the population remains the enemy, and they will try to eliminate them," explained Symoroz.
According to the veteran, such individuals are role models for a large part of Ukrainian society.
"For the Russians, Ukrainians who resist them on the front lines, as well as those who stand against their information campaign, are the main enemies. Among veterans and military personnel, there are many individuals who serve as role models for society. Therefore, this is a challenge, and the state must protect these people," he added.
