Ukrainian troops repel 29 Russian attacks in Avdiivka sector per day

Over the last day, 78 combat engagements took place, Ukrainian troops repelled 29 attacks in the Avdiivka sector

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this on January 30.

The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains difficult. Russia launched 5 missile and 63 air strikes, fired 39 times at Ukrainian troops' positions and localities.

"Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilians. Private and apartment buildings, a school and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged," the statement said.

Frontline situation

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation remains unchanged. No signs of the formation of offensive groups have been detected. Certain units of the Armed Forces of Belarus are performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire borderline with mortars and artillery: over 40 settlements across the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked.

In the Kupyansk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled four attacks near Synkivka in Kharkiv region, where Russian enemy tried to break through the defenses of Ukrainian troops to no avail. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian troops repelled six attacks near Terny and Yampolivka in Donetsk region, where Russian forces tried to break through the defenses of Ukrainian troops. Russian enemy launched air strikes in the areas of Novoyehorivka, Serebryanske forestry in Luhansk region and Terny in Donetsk region, shelled more than 10 localities with artillery and mortars.

In the Bakhmut sector, Ukrainian defense forces repelled four attacks in the areas of Bohdanivka and Klishchiivka in Donetsk region, where the Russian army, with the support of aviation, was trying to improve the tactical situation. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Avdiivka sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 20 attacks near Avdiivka and another 9 attacks near Pervomaiske and Nevelske in Donetsk region, where Russian forces tried to break through the defenses of Ukrainian troops to no avail. More than 15 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Marinka sector, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to hold back Russian enemy in the areas of Heorhiivka, Pobeda and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. Here, invading Russian forces, with the support of aviation, tried to improve the tactical situation 14 times to no avail.

For example, in the Solodke-Konstantinovka area, Ukrainian defenders repelled a Russian assault during which the enemy used 12 armoured vehicles. As a result of the battle, 2 tanks, 6 MT-LBs and 1 armoured personnel carrier were destroyed. Having received a worthy rebuff, Russian forces suffered significant losses and retreated. 

In the Shakhtarsk sector, Russian forces did not conduct any offensive (assault) operations, but carried out air strikes in the areas of Staromayorske and Rivnopil in Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

Russia did not conduct any offensive (assault) actions in the Zaporizhzhia sector. Russian forces launched an air strike near Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region. More than 15 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Kherson sector, the city of Kherson and 5 villages in the Kherson region came under Russian artillery fire. The enemy conducted air strikes near Kachkarivka and Chervonyi Mayak in Kherson region.

“Occupying Russian forces do not give up their intention to drive Ukrainian units from the footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Thus, 13 unsuccessful attempts to storm the positions of Ukainian troops were made during the day," the General Staff wrote.

Ukrainian strikes against Russian military targets

Over the day, Ukrainian aviation struck 11 areas of concentration of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment and two anti-aircraft missile systems 

Missile troops struck at an area of concentration of weapons and military equipment, an ammunition depot, five artillery pieces and a Russian radar station.
