
Ukrainian air defenses intercept 428 of 472 aerial targets during Russian attack
On the night of June 17, Russia massively attacked Ukraine with UAVs and missiles of various types. Air defenses managed to neutralize most enemy aerial targets
Ukraine's Air Force reported the information.
Thus, from 8:00 p.m. on June 16, the Russians attacked Ukraine with 472 air attack weapons, namely:
- 440 Shahed-type strike UAVs and unmanned aerial vehicle simulators of various types from the directions of Kursk, Shatalovo, Orel, Bryansk, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk in the Russian Federation. About 280 of them are Shaheds;
- two Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles from the airspace of the Tambov region;
- 16 Kh-101 cruise missiles from strategic aviation aircraft from the airspace of the Saratov region of the Russian Federation;
- 4 Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea;
- 9 Kh-59/69 guided air missiles from tactical aviation aircraft from the airspace of the Belgorod and Bryansk regions;
- one Kh-31P anti-radar missile.
The main direction of the Russian strike that night was the city of Kyiv.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units and unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data, as of 10:00 a.m., air defense destroyed 428 enemy air attack weapons, of which 262 were shot down by fire weapons, and 166 were lost locationally, including:
- 239 Russian UAVs were shot down by fire weapons, 163 were lost locationally or suppressed by electronic warfare;
- two Kh-47 M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles, one of them was lost locationally;
- 15 Kh-101 cruise missiles;
- 8 Kh-59/69 guided air missiles, one was lost locationally.
- 1 Kh-31P anti-radar missile was also lost locationally.
In total, hits by Russian air attack weapons were recorded in 10 locations that night, and debris from downed weapons fell in 34 locations. There are dead and injured civilians in Kyiv, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, the Kyiv region, and the Chernihiv region.
