Ukrainian forces capture 971 Russian soldiers during Kursk operation
During the Kursk offensive operation, Ukrainian forces captured 971 Russian soldiers
Ukraine's General Staff reported the information.
As the General Staff stressed, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are steadily capturing Russian soldiers and officers to build up the “exchange fund” and secure the release of Ukrainian prisoners held by Russia.
"The most successful operation in this regard was the Kursk offensive operation. From August 6, 2024, to May 25, 2025, Ukrainian defenders captured 971 soldiers of the Russian armed forces," the statement said.
The General Staff also added that the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue active operations in the Kursk region.
"Numerically superior opponents can be defeated only with unconventional solutions. The Kursk campaign became such an unexpected and asymmetric move, the success of which is recognized worldwide," the General Staff concluded.
- Earlier, Defense Express reported that Russian troops are putting pressure on the Kursk direction but have not been able to fully push the Ukrainian Defense Forces out.
