
Ukrainian drones strike Russian oil infrastructure in Rostov and Samara regions
The Ukrainian Armed Forces' drone units, in coordination with other Defense Forces, launched strikes on key Russian facilities overnight on March 4

In Russia’s Rostov region, Ukrainian drones targeted oil pumping infrastructure supplying the Russian military. Powerful explosions and a fire were recorded at the site.
Additionally, strikes hit production facilities at the Syzran oil refinery in the Samara region. Russian forces attempted to counter the attack with electronic warfare and air defenses, but a fire broke out at the facility.
Reports also surfaced of strong explosions near the Sokhranovsky linear production department of main gas pipelines in Rostov region.
"Detailed information on the damage is being clarified," the report stated.
Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, previously confirmed that the Syzran oil refinery was attacked on the night of March 4.
"The Syzran oil refinery in the Samara region was hit. The enemy reports explosions. In February, this refinery halted operations after a similar attack," the statement read.
Acting governor of Rostov region Yury Slyusar acknowledged the attack, stating that a fire broke out on an oil pipeline following the strikes.
"Emergency services are on site. Personnel have been evacuated. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties. The situation is being assessed," he wrote.
He added that falling drone debris ignited a warehouse at an industrial site in the village of Sokhranovka.
According to the Telegram channel Baza, firefighters are working to extinguish the blaze, but the fire remains difficult to contain due to its intensity.
