Ukrainian intel eliminates five Russian divers in Black Sea drone strike

The Main Intelligence Directorate reports.

The agency reported that one of Ukraine’s naval strike drones broke through to the bay of Russian Novorossiysk, where Black Sea Fleet ships are stationed. Due to electronic warfare measures, it lost contact with its control point and began drifting. Soon after, the Russian command ordered the strike drone to be retrieved from the bay for examination.

“To carry out the task, a group of five elite naval reconnaissance divers from Russia’s Navy, part of the so-called underwater sabotage forces and assets, a unit of highly trained reconnaissance divers whose preparation requires significant financial and time resources and is equipped with the best gear, was sent,” the report said.

However, the drone detonated during handling, killing all five Russian divers.

“Among the personnel of the Russian fleet based in Novorossiysk, there is sharp dissatisfaction with the senseless ‘cannon fodder’ order from the command to retrieve the Ukrainian naval drone, which led to the elimination of the elite group,” the Main Intelligence Directorate added.
