Ukrainian troops repel 58 Russian attacks in Pokrovsk direction - Ukraine's General Staff

On August 15, Ukrainian forces engaged in 165 combat clashes, with Russian efforts mainly concentrated in the Pokrovsk direction

Over the last 24 hours, Russia launched 5 missile strikes using 5 missiles targeting Ukrainian positions and civilian areas. Additionally, they carried out 58 airstrikes, including 71 guided bombs, and 4,365 artillery attacks, with 135 of them from multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).

Russian airstrikes targeted areas near Lyptsi, Kozacha Lopan, Kupyansk, and Zolochiv in the Kharkiv region; Tverdokhlibove, Chasiv Yar, Kurdiumivka, Druzhba, Mykhailivka, Hrodivka, Oleksandropil, Vozdvyzhenka, Kalynove, Vodiane, Urozhaine, and Novodonetske in the Donetsk region; and Lobkove in the Zaporizhzhia region. 

According to the General Staff, Ukrainian aviation, missile forces, and artillery conducted nine strikes on Russian personnel and anti-aircraft positions, including a command post, four artillery systems, an air defense vehicle, an ammunition depot, and one more critical target.

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv direction, four clashes occurred near Vovchansk and Sotnytskyi Kozachok.

In the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled nine Russian assaults near Synkivka, Petropavlivka, and Berestove.

In the Lyman direction, Russian troops launched 15 attacks, attempting advances near Nevske, Terny, and Makiivka.

In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 25 assaults near Bilohorivka, Verkhniokamianske, Pereizne, Spirne, and Vyimka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, the Russian forces attacked five times near Chasiv Yar and Andriivka.

In the Toretsk direction, with air support, Russian forces carried out 24 attacks near Pivnichne, Nelypivka, Zalizne, New York, and Toretsk.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders thwarted 58 assault and offensive operations by Russian forces near Vozdvyzhenka, Yelyzavetivka, Hrodivka, Orlivka, Mykolaivka, Zhelanne, Skuchne, Yasnobrodivka, and Ptyche, with the highest concentration of attacks near Vozdvyzhenka and Hrodivka. Russian forces heavily employed assault and bombing aircraft in this sector.

In the Kurakhove direction, Ukrainian forces repelled eight attacks near Krasnohorivka, Kostyantynivka, and Heorhiivka.

In the Vremivka direction, Russian forces conducted seven assaults on Ukrainian positions near Vodyane and Vuhledar.

In the Orikhiv direction, Russian troops attempted to dislodge Ukrainian forces from their positions near Mala Tokmachka and Novodanylivka, conducting three assaults in total.

In the Kherson direction, Russian invaders launched seven attacks on Ukrainian positions. "They were met with a strong response and suffered losses," according to the General Staff.

No signs of Russian offensive group formations were detected along the Belarusian border.

Along the borders with Chernihiv and Sumy regions, Russian forces from the territory of the Russian Federation continued heavy artillery fire on Ukrainian settlements.

"Our soldiers are inflicting significant losses on the Russian occupying forces in both manpower and equipment," added the General Staff.

  • On August 14, Russian invaders captured Zhelanne and Orlivka in the Donetsk region.
