Ukrainian command possibly replaced due to events in Toretsk sector
General Andriy Hnatov's appointment as commander of the Ukrainian Joint Forces may be related to the events in the Toretsk sector
Oleksandr Kovalenko, a military and political observer of the Information Resistance group, said this on Espreso TV.
"The situation in the Pokrovsk sector is very difficult. Russian invaders continue to act in two main directions. Despite the fact that they had quite successful actions last week in the direction of Toretsk, however, this was due, to put it mildly, to the lack of coordination during the conditional rotation that took place at the Toretsk bridgehead. The Russians managed to advance 2 kilometers deep into our positions without actually suffering the exhaustion that they do during such advances," he said.
So, the changes that have taken place in the command are also related to these circumstances, Kovalenko believes: "On average, 100 meters is a company destroyed. If the advance is 2 km, the Russians would have to lose at least 20 to 30 companies. In numbers, this is about 2,500 personnel. They did not suffer such losses.”
The direction south of 05-11 is an important one for the invading Russian forces - a logistics artery that leads through Ocheretyne to Pokrovsk, says the military and political observer.
"In the southern location, they intend to completely occupy all the settlements and villages on the left bank of the Vovcha River and Karlivka Reservoir - to create a kind of security buffer for their advance along the 05-11. This is also the northern direction - Vozdvyzhenka. For them, it will be a priority to launch an offensive on Vozdvyzhenka in order to reach 05-04 in the northwestern direction and cut the main logistics artery that connects Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka, and in fact Chasiv Yar," he added.
- On June 24, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy changed the commander of the Ukrainian Joint Forces and appointed Andriy Hnatov to replace Yuriy Sodol.
