Ukrainian army repels 28 Russian attacks overnight - General Staff

Over the day, 61 combat engagements took place at the front. The Russian army tried to break through the Ukrainian defense in the Novopavlivka sector 18 times

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this on April 1.

Russian attacks across Ukraine 

In total, Russia launched 7 missile strikes, 61 airstrikes, and 89 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems at the Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas.

Frontline situation 

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. Certain units of the Belarusian Armed Forces are performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire borderline with mortars and artillery: over 20 settlements across the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked. 

In the Kupyansk sector, Russia did not conduct any offensive (assault) actions. However, more than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled eight enemy attacks near Terny, Donetsk region, where the Russian army tried to break through the Ukrainian defense. More than 10 localities suffered from artillery and mortar attacks.

In the Bakhmut sector, Ukrainian troops repelled 14 attacks in the areas of Bilohorivka, Luhansk region; Spirne, Ivan-Daryivka, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, and Chasiv Yar, Donetsk region, where the Russians, supported by air, tried to improve the tactical situation. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Avdiivka sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled six attacks near Berdychi and Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region, where the Russian forces tried to drive Ukrainian units out of their positions. About 20 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Novopavlivka sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding back the Russian army in the areas of Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka, Velyka Novosilka, and Urozhaine in the Donetsk region, where the invading troops, with the support of aviation, tried to break through the Ukrainian defense 18 times. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Orikhiv sector, the Russian forces, with the support of aviation, launched two attacks on the Ukrainian positions near Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region and northwest of Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region. About 20 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Kherson sector, Russia launched an attack on the Ukrainian positions near Krynky, Kherson region, over the past day. More than 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

Ukrainian strikes against Russian military positions 

Over the day, Ukrainian aviation struck 1 control center and 7 Russian military positions.

The missile troops destroyed 1 UAV ground control station, 1 air defense facility, 2 electronic warfare stations, 1 ammunition depot, and 1 manpower concentration area.
