Ukrainian army repels 22 Russian attacks in Avdiivka sector over last day

The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ General Staff reported this.

Russian attacks across Ukraine

Over the last day, Russia launched 6 missile strikes, 67 airstrikes, and 92 attacks with multiple rocket launcher systems at the Ukrainian troops’ positions and populated areas.

Frontline situation 

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. Certain units of the Belarusian Armed Forces are performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire borderline with mortars and artillery: over 15 settlements across the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked. 

In the Kupyansk sector, Ukrainian soldiers repelled 10 attacks near the towns of Synkivka and Berestove in the Kharkiv region; Stelmakhivka in the Luhansk region, where the Russian army, with the support of aviation, tried to improve the tactical situation. About 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman sector, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled six attacks in the vicinity of Makiivka, Luhansk region, and Torske, Donetsk region. Over 10 localities suffered from artillery and mortar attacks.

In the Bakhmut sector, Ukrainian troops repelled 17 attacks near the towns of Bilohorivka in Luhansk region; Verkhniokamianske, Rozdolivka, Hryhorivka, Bohdanivka, Kalynivka, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka in the Donetsk region. Over 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Avdiivka sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 22 attacks near Kalynove, Novooleksandrivka, Sokil, Umanske in the Donetsk region, where the Russian army, with the support of aviation, tried to force Ukrainian units out of their positions. About 20 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Novopavlivka sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding back the Russian army in the areas of Krasnohorivka, southwest of Novomykhailivka, and Solodke in the Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Orikhiv sector, Russia attacked the Ukrainian positions 8 times near Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region. About 20 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Kherson sector, Russia did not conduct any offensive actions over the last day. About 15 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

Ukrainian strikes against Russian military positions 

Over the day, Ukrainian aviation struck 1 anti-aircraft missile system, 1 radar station, and 17 manpower concentration areas.

• On May 10, Andriy Kovalenko, head of the National Security and Defense Council's Center for Countering Disinformation, said that the situation in the Kharkiv region looks like Russia is imitating a large-scale offensive with limited forces and means, and conducting reconnaissance by combat.
