Ukrainian army repels 18 Russian attacks in 5 directions - General Staff

Russian attacks across Ukraine

In total, Russia launched 5 missile strikes, 60 airstrikes, and 62 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems at the Ukrainian troops’ positions and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Multi-storey and private houses, as well as other infrastructure facilities, were destroyed and damaged.

Frontline situation 

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. Certain units of the Belarusian Armed Forces are performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire borderline with mortars and artillery: over 10 settlements across the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked. 

In the Kupyansk sector, the Russian army made one attack on the Ukrainian positions near the town of Synkivka, Kharkiv region. About 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled one enemy attack near Terny, Donetsk region, where the Russian troops tried to break through the Ukrainian defense. More than 10 localities suffered from Russian artillery and mortar attacks.

In the Bakhmut sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 6 Russian attacks near Ivanivske, Donetsk region, where the invading army was trying to improve its tactical position. Over 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Avdiivka sector, Ukrainian troops repelled nine Russian attacks in the areas of Lastochkyne and Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region. About 20 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Marinka sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding back the Russian army near Novomykhailivka and Pobieda in the Donetsk region, where the invading troops tried to break through the Ukrainian defense 31 times. About 5 settlements came under Russian artillery and mortar fire.

In the Shakhtarsk sector, Russia did not conduct any offensive (assault) actions. However, about 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Zaporizhzhia sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled one Russian attack near Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region. More than 15 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Kherson sector, Russia does not abandon its intention to drive Ukrainian units from their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Thus, 7 attempts to storm the Ukrainian troops’ positions were made over the last day. More than 5 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

Ukrainian strikes against Russian military positions

Over the day, Ukrainian aviation struck 6 manpower concentration areas and 3 anti-aircraft missile systems.

Missile troops destroyed a control center, 3 artillery units, a munitions depot, and 2 radars of the Tor missile system.

• On February 23, Ivan Tymochko, a serviceman of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, said that after the Ukrainian army left Avdiivka, the Russian troops still failed to break the frontline.
