Ukrainian army improves interception of ballistic, hypersonic missiles - Defense Express
Valerii Riabykh, military expert, development director of the Defense Express company, noted that the air defense capabilities of large Ukrainian cities are increasingly effective in countering complex air threats from Russia
He said this on the Espreso TV channel.
‘The Armed Forces of Ukraine have significantly increased their capabilities to intercept ballistic and hypersonic missiles. If in October only 8% of missiles of this type were intercepted by our air defense system, in November this figure exceeded 40%,’ Ryabykh said.
According to the Defense Express expert, Ukraine's partners have fulfilled their obligations by sending additional air defense systems, such as Patriot, SAMP/T, NASAMS, IRIS-T, and Hawk air defenses.
The military expert also added that there is an increase in the ability of air defenses in large cities, except for Kyiv, to effectively counter complex enemy air threats.
‘This explains the increase in the rate of downing Russian ballistic and hypersonic missiles,’ Riabykh said.
- On December 2, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced during a visit to Kyiv that he would provide another package of support, including the IRIS-T air defense system.
- On December 3, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that, according to the agreements, Ukraine expects air defense systems from several partners in December.
