Ukrainian army reports 138 combat clashes along frontline on Dec. 12: Russia carries out 37 attacks in Kurakhove sector

On Thursday, December 12, 138 combat engagements were recorded on the Russian-Ukrainian front: Russian troops carried out 37 attacks in the Kurakhove sector alone

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In particular, the communities of Tymofiivka, Dmytrivka, Popivka, Bobylivka, Velyka Pysarivka, Semenivka, Marchykhina Buda, Seredyna Buda, Dmytrivka, Progress, Baranivka, Demianivka, Kamianka, Yeline, Mykolaivka and Nova Huta suffered from Russian artillery and mortar fire in Kharkiv, Chernihiv, and Sumy regions.

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv sector, the Russian enemy stormed the positions of Ukrainian troops four times in the areas of Vovchansk, Hlyboke and Starytsia, and the battle is currently ongoing. The Russian army also carried out air strikes with guided bombs on Lyptsi, Vysoka Yaruha and Hoptivka.

In the Kupyansk sector, since the beginning of the day, Russian forces have been conducting offensive actions near Sinkivka, Zahryzove and Zakhidne. Three firefights are ongoing.

In the Lyman sector, the Russian enemy attacked 14 times near Kopanky, Novoyehorivka, Lozova, Nadiia, Makiivka, Terny and in Serebryansky forest. Five attacks are still ongoing.

In the Kramatorsk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled six attempts by the Russian troops to advance in the area of Chasiv Yar and in the direction of Stupochky and Bila Hora.

In the Toretsk sector, the occupying Russian army twice tried to force Ukrainian units out of their positions near Toretsk, and the battle is currently ongoing. Enemy aircraft dropped a glide bomb on Krymske.

In the Pokrovsk sector, the Russian enemy carried out 30 assault operations in the areas of Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Dachanske, Novyi Trud, Pishchane, Shevchenko and Chumatske. The Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding back the Russian offensive and have repelled 24 attacks, with six more battles still ongoing.

In the Kurakhove sector, the Russian invaders attacked 37 times near Sontsivka, Stari Terny, Kurakhove, Dalne and Uspenivka. 24 attempts of the Russian forces to advance have already been repelled. The fighting continues. Enemy aircraft attacked the settlements of Bahatyr and Ulakly, dropping four bombs.

In the Vremivka sector, the Russian enemy stormed Ukrainian positions 24 times near Sukhi Yaly, Kostiantynopolske, Rozdolne, Neskuchne and Novodarivka. Eleven combat engagements are ongoing.

In the Orikhiv sector, Ukrainian troops repelled an attack by the Russian occupants in the direction of Novodanilivka.

In the Kursk region, the Defense Forces of Ukraine repelled nine enemy attacks, and seven combat engagements are ongoing.

In other areas, the situation has not changed significantly.

  • As of December 12, according to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russian troops continue to make tactical gains south of Pokrovsk, Donetsk region, attacking weak points and trying to manoeuvre to directly attack the city from the south.
