Ukrainian army prevents evacuation of Chasiv Yar residents: Russian propaganda spreads new fake
Russian propaganda media are spreading a fake that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are allegedly obstructing the evacuation of civilians to slow down the Russian offensive on Chasiv Yar
This was reported by the Center for Strategic Communications.
In fact, local authorities are calling on civilians to evacuate from the danger zone.
"The truth: propaganda statements that civilians are not allowed to leave Chasiv Yar are not true. On the contrary, the local authorities are calling on them and encouraging them to take advantage of the available opportunities for evacuation," the statement says.
According to the head of the Chasiv Yar Regional Military Administration, Serhiy Chausv, the main argument for evacuating the town is the destruction of housing.
"In recent weeks, we have actually seen a slight increase in evacuations. The daily number did not change: one or two, three people at most, but in fact people were leaving every day... Unfortunately, the main argument for evacuation is the destruction of housing," he said.
- On April 15, Oleksandr Kovalenko, a military and political observer of the Information Resistance group, suggested that Russian forces would be able to capture Chasiv Yar by May 9.
- On April 15, it was reported that about 700 people remained in the town of Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region, which is continuously under Russian attacks.
