Ukrainian drones strike Shahed storage depot in Russia's Tatarstan
On Saturday, August 9, Ukrainian Security Service drones struck a logistics center in Tatarstan where ready-made Shaheds and foreign components for them were stored
Ukraine's Security Service reported the information.
“This morning, long-range drones of the A Special Operations Center of the Ukrainian Security Service struck a logistics hub where Shaheds ready for use, as well as foreign components for them, are stored. This warehouse is located in the settlement of Kzyyl-Yul, Republic of Tatarstan,” the statement says.
It is noted that the distance from Ukraine to the strike point is approximately 1,300 kilometers.
Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations declared a Carpet regime in Tatarstan at 8:54 a.m., which entails closing the airspace due to a UAV threat. It was lifted at 12:25 p.m.
“The Security Service continues consistent efforts to demilitarize Russian military facilities deep in enemy rear areas. Storage depots for Shaheds, which the enemy uses to terrorize Ukraine every night, are among the legitimate military targets,” the SBU added.
What was hit
“This logistics center is a vast space of warehouses and terminals. It was begun as a major hub for large companies (especially Chinese ones) that supply their products and industrial components to the Russian Federation, including for the production of Shaheds in the Alabuga special economic zone,” adds Ukrainian Dnipro Osint (Harbuz) with further details.
An A-class warehouse was struck by a Liutyi drone without landing gear, OSINT researchers emphasize.
The portal Militarnyi also writes that the strike footage shows it was specifically the Liutyi drone.
“This drone is designed to carry out deep strikes and can cover more than 1,000 kilometers in the air, penetrating deep into enemy territory. Liutyi is equipped with a warhead that in the basic version weighed 50 kg, and in modernized variants — 75 kg. This provides significant strike power against strategic targets. Thanks to its combination of range, accuracy, and power, Liutyi has become one of the key tools for hitting important targets on the territory of Russia,” the outlet notes.
- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia launched nearly four thousand Shahed attack drones and about 260 missiles of various types at Ukraine in July.
