Ukraine should prepare for renewed Russian missile attacks — Ukrainian colonel
Russia may resort to massive missile and drone attacks again, with Ukraine's energy infrastructure remaining the primary target
Vladyslav Selezniov, military expert, reserve colonel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, stated this on Espreso TV.
"The situation remains difficult, and it's probably too early to talk about a trend toward improvement in our country's energy grid. I'm seeing reports in open sources again that in the near future, Russian forces may resort to large-scale missile and drone attacks that will be directed primarily at our country's energy facilities," Selezniov noted.
According to the reserve colonel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, a reconnaissance drone flew over Kyiv several times today. It was likely filming facilities that not only provide air defense for the capital, but also energy infrastructure. Therefore, new missile and drone attacks should be expected in the foreseeable future.
"Russian forces are well informed about the functioning and location of the main facilities of our energy system and, accordingly, strike where we have the most vulnerable areas. So don't ignore air raid signals and always have your power banks charged," Selezniov emphasized.
- Nuclear energy and security expert Olha Kosharna noted that Russia is trying to plunge Ukraine into darkness: the country currently has only 11 GW of generation capacity with a need for 18 GW. Because of this, even the shutdown of one nuclear power plant unit can cause serious generation losses.
