Ukraine shoots down 546 drones, 31 missiles in Russian night attack
On the night of August 21, the Russian army carried out a massive combined attack on Ukraine. Ukrainian air defenders destroyed 31 missiles and 546 drones

Ukraine's Air Force reported the information.
Russia used 614 strike units in the attack, including:
- 574 Shaheds and decoy drones of various types launched from Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Oryol, Shatalovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and occupied Crimea;
- 4 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles launched from the airspace over Russia’s Lipetsk and Voronezh regions;
- 2 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles launched from Russia’s Voronezh region;
- 19 Kh-101 cruise missiles launched from the airspace over Russia’s Saratov region;
- 14 Kalibr cruise missiles launched from the Black Sea;
- 1 unidentified type of missile launched from occupied Crimea.
To repel the Russian air attack, Ukraine’s Defense Forces employed aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and drone systems, as well as mobile fire groups.
As of 09:00 a.m., according to preliminary data, Ukrainian air defense shot down or suppressed 577 aerial targets, including 546 Shaheds and decoy drones of various types, 1 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missile, 18 Kh-101 cruise missiles, and 12 Kalibr cruise missiles.
- Missile and drone strikes were recorded at 11 locations, with debris from downed targets falling at 3 locations. Explosions were heard in Lviv, Khmelnytskyi region, Lutsk, and Rivne.
