Ukraine rescues 21-year-old from Russian-occupied territory amid threat of forced conscription
A 21-year-old man who was under threat of forced conscription into the Russian army has been returned from occupation to Ukrainian-controlled territory
Andriy Yermak, the head of the President’s Office, reported the information.
"As part of the Ukrainian President’s Bring Kids Back UA initiative, it was possible to rescue from occupation a 21-year-old man who was under threat of forced conscription into the Russian army," Yermak noted.
He explained that the young man, who does not have a passport and only has a Ukrainian birth certificate, received a phone call demanding that he appear at the military enlistment office. Later, he began receiving threats of being forcibly taken away.
"Thanks to the support of his sister and the coordinated work of the Helping to Leave project, the young man was evacuated to Ukrainian-controlled territory. I am grateful to the Helping to Leave project for assisting in organizing this rescue mission. We are fulfilling the President's task—to bring all children back," Yermak said.
- At the beginning of April, three children were returned from the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region to Ukrainian-controlled territory. The father of one of the boys was tortured to death by the Russians.
