Ukraine reports 54 frontline clashes, repels 9 Russian attacks in Pokrovsk sector

As of the beginning of April 9, there have been 54 combat clashes on the Russian-Ukrainian front. In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled nine Russian attacks

The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ General Staff reported the information in its update as of 4:00 p.m.

“Communities of border settlements suffered from cynical shelling from the territory of the Russian Federation, in particular: Kucheriivka, Shalyhyne, Porozok, Prokhody, Myropilske, Bachivsk, Chuikivka, Fotovyzh in the Sumy region; guided aerial bombs hit Petrushivka, Mariiine, Turya, Mala Rybytsia, Velykyi Prykil, Krasnopillia, Samotoivka, Myropilske, Uhroidy in the Sumy region,” the General Staff noted.

Frontline situation

Kharkiv direction: Russia is conducting one offensive operation in the area of Vovchansk. The battle is currently ongoing.

Kupiansk direction: The Russian army carried out one assault near Zahryzove.

Lyman direction: The invading forces attacked 10 times near the settlements of Serhiivka, Nove, Kolodiazi, and toward Hrekivka and Novomykhailivka. Two clashes are still ongoing.

Siversk direction: Ukrainian defenders repelled four Russian attempts to advance in the areas of Bilohorivka and Verkhniokamianske; one more attack is still ongoing.

Toretsk direction: The Russian army launched six attacks near Toretsk and Shcherbynivka. All clashes have now ended.

Pokrovsk direction: Since the beginning of the day, the Russian troops have made 12 attempts to push Ukrainian forces from their positions near Kalynove, Shevchenko, Zelene Pole, Yelyzavetivka, Andriivka, and Bohdanivka. Defense Forces are holding their ground, repelling nine attacks, with three clashes still ongoing.

Novopavlivka direction: The enemy attacked once near Kostiantynopil.

Huliaipole direction: Russia carried out five attacks near Novosilka and toward Shevchenko, with two still ongoing. Additionally, the enemy conducted an airstrike on Huliaipole using unguided rockets.

Orikhiv direction: Ukrainian defenders repelled four enemy assaults near Stepove and Shcherbaky; two clashes are still ongoing.

Kramatorsk and Prydniprovskyi directions: The Russian army did not launch any offensives.

Kursk region: Ukrainian defenders repelled six Russian attacks, with three more clashes ongoing. Since the beginning of the day, the enemy has carried out 33 airstrikes, dropping a total of 58 guided aerial bombs on our military positions and settlements, and conducted 154 artillery strikes, including seven from multiple launch rocket systems.

On other sections of the front, the situation has not undergone significant changes.

  • Over the past day, the Defense Forces eliminated 1,270 Russian soldiers on the front line. The invading army also lost several pieces of equipment, including 4 tanks.
