Ukraine receives €4.1 billion from EU under Ukraine Facility
The European Union has disbursed the second regular payment of €4.1 billion to Ukraine as part of the Ukraine Facility program
Ukraine's Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal shared the information.
“The next tranche was the result of our country's implementation of all the measures set out in the Ukraine Plan,” Shmyhal wrote.
According to him, this year's assistance under the Ukraine Facility initiative amounts to €16.1 billion. In total, the program, which will run from 2024 to 2027, provides €50 billion to Ukraine.
“We thank the EU for its unwavering support of Ukraine, which is of great importance for strengthening the country's economic stability and transformation on the way to full EU membership,” the Prime Minister added.
About Ukraine Facility
The Ukraine Facility is an instrument that provides for the possibility of Ukraine receiving EU financial and technical assistance totaling €50 billion in 2024-2027. Of this amount, €38.27 billion will be allocated for budget support, €6.97 billion for the investment fund, and €4.76 billion for technical and administrative support.
The four-year support program for Ukraine was finally approved by the EU on February 28. Subsequently, on March 18, the government approved the plan for the Ukraine Facility program. The European Commission called it a great achievement.
The European Commission transferred the first tranche of macro-financial assistance from a large support package to Ukraine on March 20. Following this, Ukraine's First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko signed a financial agreement between Ukraine and the EU that regulates the receipt of €5.27 billion in grant aid.
Later, the European Commission approved another €4.2 billion in funding for Ukraine under the Ukraine Facility.
