Ukraine plans to draft over 160,000 additional personnel — NSDC Secretary

He made the statement during a speech in the Verkhovna Rada on October 29, LIGA.net reports.
“In total, 1.5 million citizens were drafted into the Defense Forces. It is planned to draft over 160,000 more people. This will make it possible to staff military units up to 85%,” Lytvynenko said.
He believes that such a step is necessary to ensure the country's sustainable defense capability given the current situation at the front.
On October 29, the Verkhovna Rada supported bills to extend martial law and general mobilization in Ukraine until February 7, 2025.
- On December 19, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said at a press conference on the results of 2023 that the General Staff had requested the mobilization of an additional 450,000-500,000 Ukrainians.
- At a meeting on April 11, 2024, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a bill to improve the mobilization procedure. A total of 283 MPs voted in favor of the bill. On April 16, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed the law on mobilization, and on April 17, the document was published in the official parliamentary outlet Voice of Ukraine. The law came into force on May 18.
