Ukraine maintains control of northern Pokrovsk amid tough fight for Myrnohrad
As of December 28, Ukrainian forces maintain control of northern Pokrovsk, especially the area north of the railway, where all Russian breakthrough attempts have failed. Meanwhile, the situation in Myrnohrad remains challenging, but Ukrainian troops are holding their positions
The 7th Rapid Response Corps reported the information.
"The Defense Forces reliably control the northern part of Pokrovsk. Dozens of enemy attempts to push through our defense north of the railway have been unsuccessful," the statement says.
Russia maintains high activity on the western outskirts of Pokrovsk, attempting to reach the Hryshyne area, however all its attacks are being thwarted.
"In Myrnohrad, the situation remains difficult. The Defense Forces are holding designated positions. Units of the Airborne Assault Forces and naval infantry, among others, are involved in the defense of the city," the 7th Corps emphasized.
As highlighted in the statement, the Defense Forces are strengthening their grouping to counter enemy pressure from the northeastern and southern directions, particularly through control of the corridor in the area of Svitle and Rivne.
Since the Russian army cannot establish control over Myrnohrad, it is conducting demonstrative propaganda actions on the southern outskirts of the city, calculated for a domestic audience on the eve of the holidays.
"Isolated cases of covert enemy penetration into the central districts of Myrnohrad are being recorded. The Defense Forces are working on blocking and destroying the enemy," the statement added.
By decision of the command, on December 8, Ukrainian troops carried out an organized maneuver near Myrnohrad in the Donetsk region and occupied more advantageous positions.
