
Ukraine launches Inferno project to document detention locations for POWs in Russia
Ukraine has launched the Inferno project to document and organize information about the conditions of prisoners of war held in Russian captivity
Yevhenia Synelnyk, a representative of the Azovstal Defenders' Families Association, shared the information, according to Espreso correspondent Kateryna Halko.
The project will gather all available data on prisoners of war, including information from public sources and interviews.
Inferno is a joint project of the Azovstal Defenders' Families Association and the International Cooperation Department of the 1st Corps of the Azov National Guard of Ukraine. It was launched to expose violations of prisoners’ rights, including torture, psychological abuse, starvation, lack of medical care, and inhumane detention conditions.
Oleh Hushchyn, a representative of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, said that testimonies from both civilians and POWs may be published on open platforms, including the Inferno project, as long as the information does not contain confidential data or violate the privacy of third parties.
