Ukraine, Japan sign $3 billion deal backed by frozen Russian assets
Ukraine has signed an agreement with the Japanese agency JICA, under which Kyiv will receive $3 billion under the ERA initiative. The funds will be repaid from frozen Russian assets

Ukraine's Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal reported the information.
"Ukraine and the Japanese agency JICA have signed an agreement necessary to receive $3 billion under the ERA initiative," he said.
According to Shmyhal, the funds will be repaid using income generated from Russia's frozen assets. The money will go toward priority budget expenditures aimed at boosting the economy and strengthening Ukraine.
"We are grateful to our Japanese friends and G7 partners for creating a mechanism that makes Russia pay. In total, $14.7 billion has already been delivered to Ukraine under the ERA initiative," the prime minister added.
- Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence will receive satellite geospatial data from Japan, including radar imagery from SAR satellites.
