Ukraine forming team to develop algorithm for monitoring 30-day ceasefire
Ukraine has begun forming a national team to develop an algorithm for controlling a potential ceasefire with Russia
This was announced by Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha during a joint press conference with Austria's Federal Minister for European and International Affairs Beate Meinl-Reisinger.
The minister stated that immediately after returning from Saudi Arabia, the Ukrainian delegation reported to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about the results of their meeting with the American side.
"We have already effectively started forming a national team that will develop the necessary action algorithms for proper control of a potential ceasefire. This is an extremely complicated process," Sybiha said.
He noted that Ukraine has had negative experience with the Minsk process, where Russia violated the ceasefire 25 times. Therefore, he stressed the importance of being prepared for possible provocations from Russia.
"Everything now will be directed to ensure that the Ukrainian side is ready with the appropriate teams, work plans, and modalities. I mean, including future visions of agreements or action plans to achieve a just, lasting peace for Ukraine. And, of course, the parameters and scope of security guarantees for Ukraine," Sybiha added.
At the same time, he emphasized that the "world is awaiting a clear confirmation" from Russia regarding its agreement to a 30-day ceasefire, as it would be "a test of readiness for peace."
"We are now seeing from the signals coming from that side (Russia) that there are again certain manipulations, and we see that it is Russia that is interested in continuing this aggression, in continuing the war. Ukraine said a clear 'yes' to the ceasefire, and we supported the American side on this issue," the minister stressed.
- Political expert and journalist Vadym Denysenko believes that Putin will be willing to adhere to the 30-day ceasefire.
