Ukraine fends off thousands of cyberattacks each month, minister says
Ukraine is subjected to thousands of cyberattacks every month, according to Mykhailo Fedorov, Vice Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science and Technology Development and Minister of Digital Transformation
Speaking at “The Great Digital Transformation: Dialogues About the Future” forum, Fedorov described the volume of hostile activity in cyberspace as “incredible.”
“Believe me, the number of cyberattacks we face is astonishing. We experience thousands each month. The state is handling this challenge quite well,” he said.
Fedorov revealed that nearly every employee at the Ministry of Digital Transformation has AI-powered monitoring software installed on their laptops. The system analyzes behavioral patterns and reacts instantly to anomalies—allowing it to detect certain viruses that even traditional antivirus programs missed.
He emphasized the need for rapid response to cyber threats. To boost cyber resilience, the ministry has secured funding from a major donor to support cybersecurity tenders for both public and private sector entities.
- The United Kingdom, together with allies including the United States, issued a warning about a Russia-sponsored cyber campaign aimed at disrupting aid to Ukraine, as well as targeting Western logistics networks and tech companies.
