Ukraine demands lists of POWs Russia will return immediately
Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets has called on Russian authorities to provide lists of Ukrainian prisoners of war that Russia is ready to return immediately
He reported this on his Telegram channel.
“As the Ombudsman of Ukraine, I would like to receive all the lists of Ukrainian prisoners of war that Russia is ready to return immediately,” Lubinets stated.
He noted that the Russian side recently claimed that Ukraine has not consented to take back some of its prisoners of war. In response, Lubinets appealed to his Russian counterpart for these lists of Ukrainian citizens.
The ombudsman stressed that Ukraine is always ready to accept all lists and all its citizens.
“We are always ready to conduct prisoner exchanges! We follow the Geneva Conventions and international humanitarian law! It is usually the Russian Federation that complicates these processes and uses this as a way to influence Ukrainian society!” Lubinets emphasized.
- On October 18, the last prisoner exchange with Russia took place, bringing 95 Ukrainian servicemen home.
