Ukraine confirms strike on Russia's Tambov Powder Plant

The press service of the Ukrainian General Staff reported this on June 11.

"As part of reducing the enemy's ability to manufacture explosives and use ammunition, on the night of June 11, units of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in cooperation with other components of the Defense Forces, struck a number of important facilities of the Russian aggressor. Damage to the facilities of the FKP Tambov Powder Plant and burning on its territory were recorded," the statement said.

The General Staff noted that this enterprise is one of the main facilities of the military-industrial complex of the Russian Federation, where powders are produced for various types of small arms, artillery and rocket systems, as well as colloxylin, which is used in the creation of various explosives.

In addition, the General Staff reported explosions in the areas of the ammunition depot of the 106th Airborne Division in the Kursk region and the Buturlinovka airfield depot in the Voronezh region of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, the head of the Center for Counteracting Disinformation, Andrii Kovalenko, wrote about the damage to the plant.

"The Tambov Powder Plant of the Russian Federation has been attacked not for the first time. Now it is pausing its work. It is one of the key facilities of the Russian military-industrial complex, which is involved in the war against Ukraine," the message reads.

According to him, the company is one of the main suppliers of explosive materials for the Russian army. With the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, production at the plant has increased significantly.

About 10 explosions were heard in Kotovsk. Preliminary, it was the work of air defense on UAVs.

Baza announced an attempt by strike drones to attack the Tambov Powder Plant. The plant is on fire after a UAV attack, local residents report. 

The main activity of the Tambov Powder Plant is the production of explosives. It is one of the largest manufacturers of powders for small arms and artillery ammunition in Russia. According to Russian media, the company produces more than 200 types of products, including pyroxyline powders for small arms, hand grenades and grenade launcher rounds, artillery and mortar ammunition.

According to Petro Andriushchenko, head of the Center for the Study of Occupation, this is a key enterprise in the structure of the Rostec state corporation, which fulfills state orders for the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. The plant specializes in the production of pyroxyline powders - both for war and for covering the "civil sector".

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the alleged destruction of 32 drones. In particular, 16 over the territory of the Voronezh region, 8 over the Kursk region, five over the territory of the Tambov region, two over the territory of the Rostov region and one over the waters of the Black Sea near the coast of occupied Crimea.
